Although handsome, somehow I don't think Rob would mind...Who wouldn't love waking up next to this cutie??? Momma loves her fat boy.

Summer Summer Summer time...time to sit back and unwind
Pookie is finished with 1st grade! No more school for her until the end of July. How exciting. Long gone are the days of rushing around trying to get the kids dressed, fed and out the door by 0730. Ahhh, I can sit and drink coffee while I check my email. Ah, the little things! Mariano still has school M-W-F, but his doesn't start until 0830 and when you have a little certain someone that wakes you up at 0630, that doesn't pose a time constraint.
On to the end of the year report card, or Progress & Status report if you will.
Scores are as follows: Consistently, Usually, Sometimes, or Rarely
- Self Directed Learner: Consistently
- Community Contributor: Consistently
- Complex Thinker: Consistently
- Quality Producer: Consistently
- Effective Communicator: Consistently
- Effective and Ethical User of Technology: Consistently
Here is her end of the year write up:
Mya is a hard worker who uses class time effectively, takes an active part in group/classroom discussions, shows respect for others by listening to their ideas/opinions, does accurate work, consistently strives to do the best work, produces a variety of options in solving problems or making decisions, reads and understands various forms of written communication, expresses ideas clearly. (whew...run on sentence?) Mya is an excellent student, please continue to support Mya in her reading and writing. We have enjoyed having Mya in the class this year.
Assigned to grade 2 next year.

An Iraqi birthday
Some of Rob's fellow co workers got together and had this make shift birthday cake for him. I thought it was so sweet of them to do something for him. Happy 32nd birthday baby doll!

Ohhh...now I get it!
I may not be a "holy roller" or a "bible beater", but I believe in the Lord and I always have. After all, who else could I thank for everything I have been blessed with in this life? I know someone is looking out for me and that provides an incredible feeling of peace in the soul.
Behold...a revelation.
I've always said and felt that God has a reason for everything that He does. Be it bad or good, there is a reason. Sometimes we don't know the reason and we have to just trust in Him that he is looking out for our best interest. So a few posts back I was feeling depressed about Rob having to go on Deployment again and breaking up our sweet little family. Well, now I've got it! I know why this is part of our life. Duh, I know that we are in the Navy (like how I said "we"?) and this is routine for a military family, BUT...shall I say that my eyes have been opened a little bit wider. So far this deployment (25 days, but who is counting?) I've realized obviously how much I truly and completely love my husband, how much he helps me, what a great daddy he is, how things are so much more fun with him around, how smoothly things go with him here and how different my (our) life would be without him in it. I guess I am just really thankful that this is a temporary situation for us. Some people unfortunately lose their husbands and daddy's to death (God forbid) or Divorce and both of those are terrible endings. Atleast I know I have him coming back to me and that our life will be complete again. He makes my world a much better place to be in. I love our daily phone conversations, even if they are only 15 minutes. Atleast I get to hear his voice. I love my "good morning" email that I get to enjoy over coffee and read about his day every morning. I love knowing that he will be back in December and that we will get to enjoy our Christmas together. Thank you God for the enlightenment. And thank you honey, for my happy ending. I love you with all I am. Hurry home my love.

Dinner with Daddy
Here are the kids enjoying their Flat DaddySo we carry our
Flat Daddy all around the house with us. He ate dinner with us. He helped give the kids a bath, and he listened to us read bedtime stories. We just love him. But I have to admit that whenever I walk into the room that he is in it scares the hell outta me for a minute.

Citizen of the Year!
Since school has begun, the teachers have chosen a "Citizen of the Month" every month. Mya received it back in September. Well at the end of the year the teachers choose one student to be "Citizen of the Year". So who do you think they chose? Our brilliant daughter Mya of course! I was so proud of her that tears just started flowing uncontrollably. I mean, I already knew that Mya was the epitome of kindness and more brilliant than I could have ever imagined or hoped for, but it's always nice to have confirmation. I didn't realize that I would be called to the stage to pin her, hence the attire (more on that later).
Please don't ask me why I still look pregnant
Think she was embarrassed by the kiss?
Contrary to her appearance, she was totally psyched to be chosen!
Just look at the love
We shared cookies together afterwards
Congratulations my baby girl. Mommy & Daddy are so very proud of you!

Ho'ike
In Hawaiian, "Ho'ike" means performing something you have learned. Last week Mya's school put on a Ho'ike. Mya had a great time and I had a great time watching her. I guess they designed their hats themselves because on the side of Mya's she had written "Daddy" in glitter glue. Awww.
