Easter and the waterfall

We decided to spend Easter Sunday surrounded by God's beautiful nature. This is a waterfall located on the North Shore of Oahu. It is called Waimea Falls. Waimea Falls is located in the beautiful 1,800 acre Waimea Falls Park. In ancient times, the Hawaiians believed that Waimea had healing powers and they would bring their wounded soldiers to the waterfall and lay them in the water for healing. The water has a reddish tint due to the iron oxide found in the volcanic soil that flows down from the mountains by the Waimea River. Here are some photos from the trip. It was about a 3/4 mile trip to the falls and the water was very cold.

Finally...Mya's Birthday

We had a fun time celebrating our baby girl's 7th birthday. They played games, ate pizza, and played on the slip n' slide.

We decided to have her party out at a pavilion on base because our house is just too small. So we went there early to decorate and set up before all of her friends started arriving. There are actually 2 pavilions there and there was another birthday party at the other one and they had a bouncy house. So about 2 or 3 of her friends have arrived and they are having a great time on the slip n slide when all of a sudden, it starts deflating along with the other party's bouncy house.

Apparently, the circuit popped and there is no one who can come and fix it on the weekend. I was so disappointed and disgusted not knowing what we were going to do. Low and behold, our friends Angie and Lance came to the rescue! He is a Marine that works on base at the fire station and he ran up there and got a generator. They are the bomb! While he was gone, I started the games for the kids so they wouldn't get bored. The theme was the Fairly Oddparents so we played pin the wand on Wanda. I had them all color and decorate their own wands for the game.

So that entertained them for a while and after that we played this box toss game that they all seemed to enjoy. It's kind of like musical chairs with the music being replaced by a box with a picture on each side. Then ofcorse there was the pinata (which I thought would NEVER break). And last but not least, the cake was eaten. Here is Mya being sang to and blowing out the candles:

She had a great time with her friends. Here are some more pictures from her day. Thank you to all who sent her gifts across the miles. We love you and miss you! And thanks to Angie & Lance for saving the day!

What a surprise!

Some of you may have been expecting some pictures from Mya's birthday party, but I'm running a little behind. Her birthday went great and I will post some pics later. Sunday the doorbell rang and when I answered it I was totally in shock to see my Mommy & my oldest sister. It was so unexpected and greatly appreciated to have them surprise me like that. My sister described it best when she related my reaction to that of winning the lottery. I was jumping up and down screaming. Wonder what the neighbors were thinking? Anyway, so needless to say I don't want to waste any time while they are here with me. So when you don't hear from me for 2 weeks, you will know why.

Birthday Pie!

My baby girl is 7 today. We are having her party on
Saturday, so tonight we decided to be unconventional
and have cherry pie with cherry vanilla ice cream instead
of cake since she will have that on Saturday. Look at her
sweet little face. She was so excited just to have this. I love
how appreciative she is.

We were singing Happy Birthday to you here:

She only asked for two things and one was a digital watch.
She put it on right away and loves it.

So I guess we will talk to you again on Saturday after her party. She loves the Fairly Odd Parents, so that is her theme this year. We love you!
